Heart Of Madness was announced at the beginning of March, with promises that it would bring the New World new world gold storyline to a close. The game was originally scheduled to be released on Tuesday of this week, but it was postponed due to a last-minute bug. It’s available right now, on Thursday, and it includes a new Blunderbuss weapon as well as a slew of balance changes for the MMO.
Players will pursue Isabella, a one-time explorer turned big meanie, into an alternate version of the capital city of Myrkgard as part of the Tempest’s Heart Expedition in the expansion, which continues the storyline established in New World with a new Expedition. Isabella is, in essence, the corrupted (possibly corrupted) version of the game’s boss monster.
The Tempest’s Heart is an endgame expedition designed for five players, and in order to participate, you must have reached level 60 and a Gearscore of 550 or higher.
Even though the rest of the update is less dramatic, the new Blunderbuss (which can be seen briefly in the video above) is a new weapon that is designed for close-to-mid range combat. According to the blog post announcing the update, its power scales with the player’s strength and intelligence stats, making it a good companion for bruiser or mage build combinations.
The same post also contains a comprehensive list of the balance adjustments and bug fixes included in the update, which number in the hundreds.
